Niger Delta activist and traditional ruler Asari Dokubo has spoken about his relationship with Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, and their involvement in pipeline surveillance contracts in the Niger Delta.
In a video shared on Facebook on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Dokubo said Tompolo once handed over control of the Rivers portion of a pipeline contract to him, but he declined the responsibility.
“Tompolo handed over control of the contract to me, and I said, ‘No,’” Dokubo said.
Dokubo Explains Why He Declined
Dokubo made the comment while discussing pipeline surveillance arrangements and his interactions with Tompolo.
According to the Niger Delta activist, Tompolo offered him control of the Rivers part of the contract, but he decided not to accept the responsibility.
Dokubo presented the decision as a personal choice regarding his involvement in the pipeline contract and said he declined the offer when it was made.
His comments come amid renewed public discussion over pipeline surveillance contracts in the Niger Delta and the roles played by former militant leaders and other contractors.
Tompolo and Niger Delta Pipeline Contracts
Tompolo, whose real name is Government Ekpemupolo, has been associated with pipeline surveillance operations in the Niger Delta through Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited.
The company’s pipeline surveillance arrangements have previously attracted political and public debate, including criticism from Dokubo. Reports have documented disagreements between the two Niger Delta figures over pipeline contracts dating back several years.
In recent days, Dokubo has again spoken publicly about pipeline surveillance contracts, questioning the distribution and value of contracts in the oil-producing region.
He has also made separate allegations concerning the value of contracts allegedly received by other individuals and companies. Those allegations have been disputed, and available reports indicate that supporting documentary evidence for some of the figures has not been publicly established.
Dokubo’s Latest Comment
In the latest video, however, Dokubo focused on his own interaction with Tompolo.
He said Tompolo handed over responsibility for the Rivers section of the contract to him, but he responded negatively and chose not to take control.
The comment provides another account of the longstanding discussions surrounding pipeline surveillance arrangements in the Niger Delta.
Dokubo concluded by reiterating that Tompolo had offered him control of the Rivers portion of the contract and that he had declined the offer.
The latest remarks are likely to add to ongoing discussions over pipeline surveillance contracts, their beneficiaries and the involvement of prominent Niger Delta figures.
