A 55-year-old mother, Janet Oladosu, has appealed to the Federal Government to intensify efforts to rescue her son, Greatness, and 19 other prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who were reportedly abducted while travelling to their respective orientation camps.
Oladosu made the appeal after receiving a distressing message from her son, who was among the prospective corps members reportedly kidnapped during their journey.
According to a report by Vanguard on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, the mother urged the Federal Government to treat the rescue operation as an urgent priority and work with relevant security agencies to secure the victims’ safe release.
Mother Seeks Urgent Government Action
Oladosu expressed concern over the safety and wellbeing of her son and the other prospective corps members, urging authorities to intensify efforts to locate and rescue them.
Speaking with Vanguard, she also appealed to the Oyo and Imo State governments to collaborate with security agencies in efforts to secure the release of the abducted youths.
The mother said the incident had caused severe distress among families whose children were travelling to begin the mandatory national service programme.
She urged the authorities not to allow the victims to remain in captivity and called for increased efforts to establish their whereabouts and secure their freedom.
Abducted NYSC Prospect Sends Secret Message
Oladosu said the latest communication from her son gave her an indication of how he was able to contact her despite being in captivity.
According to the mother, Greatness managed to conceal a mobile phone on his person and used it to secretly send her a message.
She said the communication increased her fears about the condition of her son and the other abducted prospective corps members.
Recalling the message, Oladosu said her son wrote:
“Mummy, I don’t know what will happen to us. I hid this phone in my trouser to send a text to you.”
The message, according to his mother, showed that he was uncertain about what could happen to him and the other victims.
Families Await Rescue
The reported abduction has left the families of the prospective corps members anxious as they await information about efforts to secure their release.
Oladosu called on the Federal Government and the state governments concerned to coordinate closely with security agencies and make the rescue of the victims a priority.
She also urged authorities to intensify efforts to establish the location of the abducted prospective corps members and bring them home safely.
The victims were reportedly travelling to their NYSC orientation camps when they were abducted, according to the report.
The families are now appealing for urgent intervention as they await the safe return of their loved ones.
