No fewer than 15,000 patients are expected to benefit from a free medical mission being organised across Ogun East Senatorial District by former Ogun State Governor and Senator representing the district, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.
The medical outreach is being organised as part of the 25th anniversary activities of the Gateway Front Foundation, known as GFF@25.
The programme will run from October 9 to 24, 2026, with more than 50 medical doctors expected to participate in the exercise.
Doctors from Sharing Hope Medical Mission in the United States are also expected to arrive in Ogun State within the next five days to take part in the initiative.
Free Medical Services for Ogun Residents
The medical mission will provide a wide range of free healthcare services, including medical consultations, medication, eye care, dental treatment and surgical procedures.
According to the organisers, patients requiring major and minor surgeries will also receive treatment during the exercise.
The surgical component will cover gynaecological, orthopaedic and plastic surgery, including procedures for patients suffering from burn-related injuries.
The initiative is expected to provide residents of Ogun East with access to specialist medical services at no cost.
Surgeries to Hold at Redeemers Health Village
The main surgical component of the medical mission will take place at the Redeemers Health Village at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Camp in Mowe.
The surgical programme is scheduled to run from October 9 to 16.
The organisers said only patients identified as requiring surgery will be referred to the Redeemers Health Village.
Other medical services will be decentralised across the nine local government areas that make up Ogun East Senatorial District.
The arrangement is designed to bring the medical intervention closer to residents across the senatorial district and reduce the need for patients requiring routine healthcare services to travel to the main surgical centre.
Medical Outreach Across Nine Local Government Areas
The decentralised programme will begin in Ijebu North on October 9.
The schedule will continue with Ijebu North East on October 10, Sagamu on October 12 and Ijebu Ode on October 13.
Residents of Ogun Waterside are scheduled to benefit from the programme on October 14, followed by Ikenne on October 15 and Odogbolu on October 16.
The outreach will continue in Ijebu East on October 17 and Remo North on October 18.
Additional medical services will also be available at the RCCG City, Arch Area, Health Village and Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway from October 9 to 16.
Healthcare Workers to Receive International Training
Beyond providing free treatment to patients, the medical mission will also focus on strengthening the capacity of healthcare professionals in the region.
Participating healthcare practitioners are expected to receive professional training and internationally recognised certification in several areas of emergency and critical care.
The training programmes will include Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, Stop the Bleed and Advanced Paediatric Life Support.
The visiting American medical team will also deliver advanced surgical lectures as part of the professional development component of the programme.
The organisers said the training is intended to improve the ability of local healthcare professionals to respond to emergencies and provide specialised care.
GFF@25 Anniversary Initiative
The medical mission forms part of the activities marking the 25th anniversary of the Gateway Front Foundation.
The organisers said the initiative is aimed at improving access to healthcare for residents while also contributing to the development of the region’s medical workforce.
With more than 50 doctors expected to participate and an estimated 15,000 patients targeted, the exercise is expected to be one of the major components of the GFF@25 anniversary programme.
The organisers said the combination of free consultations, medication, eye and dental care, surgeries and professional training would provide both immediate healthcare support and longer-term benefits to the Ogun East community.
