The past publicity spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, has condemned the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, rejecting statements that blame the opposition for inciting Nigerians against the governing party. In a discussion with Trust TV, Ologbondiyan raised the question of whether the opposition suggested to the president that he stay at the airport instead of going to the actual sites in Jos where the violence occurred.
He further commented that Nigerians often tolerate situations quietly until they reach their limit, cautioning that the nation might be nearing that critical point. He believes President Tinubu ought to recognize the rising public dissatisfaction and engage more sincerely with the issues faced by citizens, especially concerning the ongoing insecurity and recent episodes of violence.
He stated, “Did the opposition tell you, Mr. President, to stay disconnected from the public? When people lose their lives, you should visit them and express your condolences; you shouldn’t just stay at the airport and say, ‘I can give you ten minutes.’ Is that the fault of the opposition? Nigerians tend to be silent and observe until they can bear it no longer. It’s essential for those in the Villa to understand that citizens are expressing, ‘We cannot tolerate this any longer.'”
