During an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, broadcaster Seun Okinbaloye engaged former Labour Party Chairman Julius Abure in a heated line of questioning regarding his continued public comments about Peter Obi, despite
Obi’s exit from the party. The discussion centered on what Okinbaloye described as an apparent persistent focus on Obi, even though the two are no longer politically aligned.
Seun Okinbaloye questioned Abure on why he continues to comment frequently on the former presidential candidate, suggesting that such attention may be unnecessary given Obi’s departure from the party.
He pressed Abure on what he considered an unusual fixation, asking pointedly about the motivation behind it. In his words, he said: “Mr Peter Obi has since left your party, yet you are still going after him, you still continue to talk about him, what’s this fixation about Peter Obi, did he collect your girlfriend, did he steal anything from you?”
The question appeared to challenge whether there was any personal grievance driving Abure’s continued commentary on Obi, rather than purely political reasons.
