Phrank Shaibu, the Special Assistant on Public Communications to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has fiercely criticized the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal. This political face-off follows sharp public criticisms raised by Lawal concerning the leadership capacity and political integrity of the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate.
According to a video posted on the Official YouTube channel of Channels Television on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, while dismissing the allegations as mere bitter tantrums from an aggrieved politician, he stated, “I have met Babachir five times, and on all those five occasions, I met him at the dining table of Atiku Abubakar having either lunch or dinner.”
The media aide went on to claim that Lawal was simply displaying deep frustration after failing to deliver his own preferred candidate during the political primary elections. He suggested that the former government scribe had enjoyed close hospitality from the former Vice President multiple times in the past before turning around to launch these heavy political attacks.
Shaibu further argued that the recent public criticisms were motivated by personal grievances rather than genuine concern for national development or political ideals. He strongly defended his principal’s track record, stating that the political camp would no longer waste its time trading words over what they consider to be baseless accusations from adversaries.
In his concluding remarks, the media strategist emphasized that the electorate remains focused on addressing national challenges like economic hunger and widespread insecurity rather than ethnic politics. He insisted that the general public would ultimately judge politicians based on their past contributions to the country instead of relying on toxic media campaigns.
