In a recent interview shared by Senator Victor Umeh, the chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) firmly dismissed doubts surrounding the party’s planned national convention, emphasizing its certainty and legitimacy.
Addressing concerns raised by political observers and critics, Umeh stated clearly, “National convention is not purported to be scheduled to hold tomorrow — it will hold tomorrow.” He stressed that the use of the word “purported” creates unnecessary doubt and misrepresents the party’s position, insisting that all arrangements for the convention have been concluded in line with party procedures.
Umeh further noted that the ADC remains committed to strengthening its internal structures despite ongoing legal disputes and leadership controversies. According to him, the convention is a crucial step in consolidating the party’s leadership and reinforcing its readiness to provide a credible alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape.
He also expressed confidence that party members across the country are united and prepared to participate actively in the process. He described the convention as a demonstration of the ADC’s resilience and adherence to democratic principles, particularly at a time when opposition parties face increasing scrutiny.
The ADC leader maintained that attempts to cast doubt on the convention are politically motivated and aimed at destabilizing the party’s progress. He concluded by reaffirming that the party will continue to operate within the law while advancing its vision of offering Nigerians a viable political choice.
