Many were left stunned after the governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang was spotted addressing a large number of protesters from a heavily guarded security vehicle in Jos, the state capital.
This came after several aggrieved individuals took to the streets to register their grievances over the recent attacks that took the lives of more than ten persons, an attack orchestrated by yet to be identified armed assailants.
However, Chidi Odinkalu, a respected human rights activist and legal practitioner in a recent statement which was shared on his official X handle, raised serious concerns over the actions of the governor.
According to his statements, he pointed out that the governor addressing the people from a heavily guarded security vehicle indicated that he was indifferent to the plight of the Plateau people.
He further pointed out that his actions, and the actions of other leaders who were less concerned about the people and their suffering was responsible for the people taking laws into their hands.
The incident, it can be recalled, had triggered massive public condemnation, with many calling on the people to rise and defend themselves.
