I cried for kidnapped pupils before my daughter was abducted—Adelabu’s mother;Igboke resigns

Mrs. Olufunmilayo Adelabu, mother of former Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has recounted how she wept over the abduction of schoolchildren in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo state, only for her own daughter and twin grandsons to be kidnapped the following day.

Mrs Adelabu, made the revelation in a viral video posted by Oyo Affairs on Sunday, following the safe rescue of her last daughter, Olaide Adegoke, and her twin grandsons.

The family, was abducted by gunmen on Tuesday, June 3, 2026, in Ibadan.

They were rescued ‘unharmed’ on Saturday night, by police operatives during an operation, in which two suspected kidnappers, were neutralised.

2027: Ebonyi commissioner resigns, defects to PDP

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Project Monitoring, Mr Felix Igboke, has resigned his position and defected to the Peoples Democratic Party.

Igboke, who officially announced his defection on Sunday, during a PDP gathering attended by party leaders, executives and supporters in Isu, Onicha Local Government Area of the state, said he defected with more than 10,000 supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He described his return to the PDP as a homecoming, noting that his political journey began with the party.

Igboke, said his decision was informed by the need to align with a political platform capable of advancing the interests of the people and promoting inclusive development in the state.

Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, has officially replied to the tribal remarks made by the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.

Lawal, had alleged a week ago that the ADC presidential primary, was rigged to favour Atiku.

According to him, Atiku’s victory in ADC is only celebrated by Fulanis, referring to the ex-VP as Kachalla.

In a latest statement, Babachir Lawal, had insisted on his remark and called for the replacement of Atiku as ADC presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Fire guts residential building in Kwara

A fire outbreak on Sunday morning, destroyed parts of a residential building in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, affecting a store and a room within the property.

The incident, occurred at about 7:10 am at No. 5 Obafemi Akere Street, off Basin Road, Ilorin, prompting an emergency response from the Kwara State Fire Service.

The development, was disclosed in a statement issued by the spokesperson for the Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, a copy of which was made available to The PUNCH in Ilorin.

According to the statement, the affected property, was a five-bedroom bungalow, with the fire damaging a store and a room located at the rear section of the building.
