Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has responded after a social media user praised her for her role during the burial ceremony of veteran actor Olu Jacobs.
The social media user commended Henshaw for the things she did during the funeral, saying her efforts on behalf of the late actor were impressive and had further increased his respect for her.
Henshaw, however, declined to take all the credit for the efforts surrounding the burial ceremony.
In her response, the actress thanked the man identified as Ogayenne but pointed out that several other people also played important roles during the event.
She mentioned Chisom, Deola, Kemi Lala, Ireti, Yolanda and Olamide among those who contributed.
Henshaw also acknowledged the event planner, Ebun, as well as her associates, Adebisi, Rosemary and Shalom.
According to the actress, everyone involved contributed in their own way to honour Olu Jacobs.
Kate Henshaw Names Others Who Contributed
Responding to the social media praise, Henshaw said she did not want to accept the accolades alone because several people worked together to make the occasion a fitting tribute to the late veteran actor.
She wrote on Instagram:
“Thank you my brother Ogayenne. I won’t take your accolades alone 🙏…Let me just say I wasn’t the only one….There were others: Chisom, Deola, Kemi Lala, Ireti, Yolanda, Olamide.”
She continued by acknowledging the event planning team.
“Also the event planner, Ebun and her associates; Adebisi, Rosemary, Shalom…and others I can’t remember now. We all played our part.”
The actress explained that supporting and showing up for people she loves is something she does in her own way.
‘I Show Up in My Own Way’
Henshaw added that her involvement was simply her way of showing care and support for someone she loved and respected.
“I show up in my own way, the way I know how to for the ones I love & care about,” she said.
She concluded her message by stressing the importance of appreciating life and those around us.
“Nothing dey this life. God bless you too. 🙏 I repeat, nothing dey this life,” she wrote.
Olu Jacobs’ Burial
Olu Jacobs was laid to rest in Lagos following a long and celebrated career in the Nigerian film industry.
The veteran actor was widely respected for his contributions to Nollywood and his decades of work across Nigerian and international productions.
His burial brought together colleagues, family members, friends and other figures from the entertainment industry to pay their final respects.
Henshaw’s response has since drawn attention because of her decision to highlight the contributions of others rather than accept individual praise for the role she played during the funeral.
Her message also reflected the strong bonds that exist among members of Nigeria’s entertainment industry, particularly when colleagues come together to honour one of their own.
