Former APC Women Leader Jamima Dutse Killed at Home in Bauchi, TIB Demands Probe

Former All Progressives Congress (APC) Zonal Women Leader in Bauchi South, Mrs Jamima J. Dutse, has reportedly been killed by unknown assailants at her residence in Bauchi State.

Dutse was reportedly attacked inside her home before the assailants fled the area. The circumstances surrounding the killing, including the identity and motive of the attackers, have not been publicly established.

The reported killing has prompted calls for an immediate investigation, with the Bauchi State chapter of the Take-It-Back (TIB) Movement urging security agencies to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.

TIB Demands Investigation Into Jamima Dutse’s Death

In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by the Bauchi State Coordinator of the TIB Movement, Nazif Bashi, the group condemned the reported killing and expressed condolences to Dutse’s family, friends and associates.

The movement described the incident as a disturbing act of violence and said the fact that the attack reportedly occurred at Dutse’s residence raised concerns about the safety of residents in the state.

TIB called on the Bauchi State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS) and other relevant security agencies to immediately investigate the circumstances surrounding Dutse’s death.

The group also urged authorities to arrest and prosecute anyone found responsible.

Group Calls for High-Powered Investigative Panel

The TIB Movement called for the establishment of what it described as a dedicated, high-powered investigative panel to handle the case.

According to the group, the investigation should establish how the attackers gained access to Dutse’s residence, determine the motive for the killing and identify anyone who may have been involved.

TIB also called for regular communication between security agencies, Dutse’s family and members of the public while the investigation is ongoing.

The group said transparent updates would help reduce speculation and reassure residents that the case was receiving appropriate attention.

“Justice must not only be done; it must be seen to be done,” the movement said.

TIB further urged authorities to ensure that anyone found responsible faces prosecution under the law.

Questions Over Security in Bauchi

Dutse’s reported killing has also renewed concerns raised by the TIB Movement about security in Bauchi State.

The organisation said attacks occurring in residential areas could undermine public confidence in the ability of security agencies to protect citizens.

It urged the Bauchi State Government and security authorities to strengthen surveillance, intelligence gathering and other security measures across Bauchi metropolis and neighbouring areas.

However, there is currently no verified evidence establishing that Dutse’s political background was connected to her reported killing.

The available reports also do not establish the identity of the attackers or a confirmed motive for the incident.

Who Was Jamima Dutse?

Jamima J. Dutse served as a Zonal Women Leader of the APC in Bauchi South before her death.

Her political background has attracted attention following the reported attack, but available reports have not established that the killing was politically motivated.

The immediate focus of the investigation is expected to be on determining what happened at her residence, identifying those responsible and establishing the motive for the attack.

Security Agencies Under Pressure to Act

The TIB Movement’s call places attention on the Bauchi State Police Command, DSS and other security agencies to establish the circumstances surrounding the reported killing.

The group has also called for communication with Dutse’s family and the public during the investigation.

As of October 4, 2026, no publicly available report has established the identity of the assailants or confirmed a motive for the killing.

The case remains under calls for investigation, with TIB urging authorities to act swiftly and ensure that anyone found responsible is brought before the law.
