Several Nigerians have taken to social media to react after photos surfaced showing Bola Ahmed Tinubu commissioning a new agro-cargo international airport in Ogun State.
The photos were shared by Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, via his official X account, capturing the moment the president inaugurated the Gateway Agro-Cargo International Airport located in Iperu-Remo.
The commissioning, which took place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, also marked the launch of Gateway Airlines and several other major projects in the state. The event reflected joint efforts between the federal and Ogun State governments to strengthen infrastructure, improve agricultural value chains, and stimulate economic growth.

Designed as a modern aviation hub, the airport features a runway stretching nearly four kilometres, a fully equipped control tower, advanced aviation technology, and dedicated cargo handling facilities. It is expected to serve as the centerpiece of a growing aerotropolis, positioning Ogun State as a key player in regional and international trade.
According to Keyamo, Tinubu stated that the airport will significantly support agro-exports by providing farmers with faster access to global markets, while also helping to reduce post-harvest losses. It is also projected to create employment opportunities and attract investment into the state.
Speaking at the event, President Tinubu emphasized that the project aligns with broader efforts to diversify Nigeria’s economy and enhance non-oil exports. He noted that the newly launched state airline, operated by ValueJet, will begin operations with two aircraft already acquired.
The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, as well as leading businessmen such as Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, and Abdul Samad Rabiu, highlighting strong collaboration between government and the private sector.
