According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Arise News on Sunday, May 24, 2026, Director of Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Dr. Sam Amadi, expressed concern over the growing confusion and internal contradictions within Nigeria’s political system ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking during an interview on the station, Amadi reacted to the ongoing crises surrounding party primaries and factional disputes across several political parties. He said the developments reflect a deeper problem within the country’s democratic process and political culture.
While discussing the situation in Rivers State and the increasing influence of political actors across party lines, Amadi stated, “You have somebody in the PDP, but he is planting someone as governor in another party’s state.”
According to him, such political actions show that ideology, party loyalty, and institutional discipline have continued to weaken in Nigeria’s democracy. He argued that political actors are now more focused on power and control than strengthening democratic values or respecting party structures.
Amadi further noted that the increasing number of court cases, parallel party leadership claims, and conflicting primary elections are signs of instability within the political environment. He warned that unless political institutions are strengthened, public confidence in the democratic process may continue to decline across the country.
