The visitors took control of the match despite an early setback, with Everton Women briefly threatening an upset. Chelsea FC Women, however, showed their attacking strength and depth to recover and pull away with a comfortable win that strengthens their position in the league standings.
The game began at a fast pace, with Chelsea FC Women striking first through Sam Kerr, who finished clinically from close range after being set up by Erin Cuthbert in the 6th minute. Everton Women responded well and found an equaliser through Nicole Momiki in the 10th minute, who stunned the defence with a long-range effort that beat the goalkeeper.
After the break, Chelsea Women returned with renewed intensity. Sam Kerr restored their lead early in the second half with a well placed left-footed strike in the 47th minute following an assist from Lauren James. The pressure continued to mount on Everton Women, and the visitors extended their advantage when Ellie Carpenter calmly finished from inside the box in the 53rd minute after being set up by Alyssa Thompson.
Everton Women struggled to contain Chelsea FC Women’s attacking movements as chances continued to flow. Erin Cuthbert then put the result beyond doubt in the 70th minute, converting from close range to make it 4-1 after sustained pressure inside the box.
Despite several substitutions and attempts to regain control, Everton Women could not find a way back into the match. Chelsea Women maintained possession and managed the closing stages efficiently, with goalkeeper Hannah Hampton also making important saves to deny late efforts from the home side.
