Why I Was Chased Out Of My Wedding Ceremony Because of My Beards. My Wife Cried That Day–Brian Baril

According to a recent video by Lucky Udu on Thursday, April 9, 2026, a Nigerian painter, Brian Baril, has revealed how he was publicly chased out of his own wedding ceremony because the pastor deemed his beard “un-Christian.” The incident occurred just as the couple prepared to exchange vows.

According to Brian, after praise and worship, the pastor took the microphone and announced: “If you cannot go outside and take off your beard or reduce it, there will be no marriage for you.” Brian initially thought it was a joke and stood frozen for 10 minutes. His wife cried for 30 minutes as the entire ceremony paused for 45 minutes. Despite having already trimmed his beard before coming to church, the pastor insisted it was still too long.

Brian eventually complied for the sake of his weeping wife, shaving it off outside. He later explained he had missed earlier counseling with the regional overseer due to a painting project for a Texas-based client. The wedding eventually proceeded peacefully. Brian, who describes himself as a devoted Christian, says he often faces public abuse and discrimination because of his appearance.

His Words: “ I was shocked myself. My wife cried for about 30 minutes. Everything paused for about 45 minutes or so. We went to church, and the pastor came to the altar and said I didn’t look like a Christian.

He told me I needed to go and reduce my beard before we could proceed with anything related to our wedding. And that was how the whole thing went. I thought it was a joke. I stood there for about 10 minutes, and he still came up again. He said, “If you cannot go outside and shave off your beard or reduce it, then there will be no marriage for you.”
