Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, former vice-presidential candidate, has stated that opposition politicians are not doing enough to hold President Bola Tinubu accountable.
In an interview with Trust TV, Ahmed said opposition leaders’ criticisms of Tinubu’s foreign trips and the cost of the presidential jet purchased by his administration are not enough to put pressure on him. He said such criticisms are insignificant to Tinubu and amount to “child’s play.”
Ahmed said that if opposition figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso were serious about ensuring good governance after the 2023 election, they would constantly tell Tinubu that he breached the constitution of Nigeria
In Ahmed’s words: “To Tinubu all these things are child’s play. When you have left the capital offence that they committed and you are talking about liberties, it is his liberty to travel anywhere in the world. You are talking about the cost of jet that he bought, he can buy even more”
