Senator Seriake Dickson, the national leader of the newly formed Nigerian Democratic Congress, has dismissed rumors regarding commercialization of party tickets. The lawmaker clarified that high-profile politicians joined the political movement based on shared ideological values, debunking widespread allegations of financial manipulation during the recently concluded primary elections across various states.
According to a video posted on the Official YouTube channel of Arise News on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, while addressing the rapid growth of the platform and the entry of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, he stated, “we gave our platform to them on a platter, without any discussion of money,” during the live studio broadcast.
The former governor of Bayelsa State explained that attracting formidable national figures required credible leadership rather than transactional arrangements. He maintained that the geometric expansion of the opposition platform remains a genuine testament to the collective desire of Nigerians for democratic renewal, rather than the influence of wealthy billionaires looking to buy structures.
Dickson acknowledged that while the implementation of compulsory direct primaries under current electoral guidelines created logistical challenges for the young institution, the internal structures remained intact. He strongly advised aggrieved aspirants to exercise maximum restraint and avoid spreading false narratives that could easily undermine the ongoing reconciliation process within the party.
In his concluding remarks, the politician emphasized that the self-funding organization operates on legitimate donations made directly to official campaign accounts. He assured the public that his leadership style prioritizes fair consultation and institutional transparency, which will ultimately guarantee a formidable outing against the ruling party in the 2027 general elections.
