NDC Leader, Dickson Reacts As Report Claiming Kwankwaso Is Planning To Dump Party Surfaced Online

Former Bayelsa State Governor and National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has addressed recent reports suggesting that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso may be considering leaving the party.

Dickson’s response was conveyed through a statement published on his verified X account on June 9, 2026. In the post, he dismissed concerns about divisions within the party and revealed that he recently met with Kwankwaso and representatives of the Kwankwasiyya Movement.

According to Dickson, the meeting focused on strengthening unity within the party and ensuring that both the Kano State leadership of the NDC and Kwankwaso remain aligned in their political objectives and strategies.

He further emphasized Kwankwaso’s importance to the party, describing him as the NDC’s vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

Reflecting on the outcome of the discussions, Dickson expressed optimism about the future of the party and its ability to maintain internal cohesion ahead of upcoming political contests.

In his words:

“We had fruitful deliberations and I am confident that, with goodwill and our collective commitment, all parties will continue to work together harmoniously as we pursue victory for our party and its candidates.”

His remarks appear aimed at reassuring party supporters and countering speculation about any possible departure by Kwankwaso from the NDC.
