Oyo State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, and the State government led by Engineer Seyi Makinde are currently at loggerheads over alleged plans to sell Agodi government fish farm.
APC, in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Sadare, on Friday, alleged that the governor had concluded plans to sell off the farm to a private investor.
Sadare described the development as unfortunate.
“We have uncovered fresh plans by Gov. Makinde and his cronies to expand the private Housing Estate projects around Agodi Government Secretariat which has birthed Baywood Estate.
“After the destruction of the enviable green zone that protects the environment around the area, the next in the line for Governor Makinde is to level up the Government Fish Farm facility with a view to joining the large expanse of land, which it occupies, with the private estate,” the APC alleged.
But the governor, in his reaction, described the allegation as reckless.
Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Makinde said that the APC lacked accurate information.
He said, “For the avoidance of doubt, there is no plan by the Oyo State Government to sell, cede, or otherwise transfer the Agodi Government Fish Farm to any private developer.
“The allegation exists only in the imagination of those who appear more interested in generating headlines than engaging in honest public discourse.”
