The Nigerian Army has said that its troops of Operation Eastern Sanity II arrested three suspects and recovered explosive materials during a raid operation targeting criminal hideouts in the Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The military in a statement said that the operation, carried out in the early hours of issued on Saturday, May 23, 2026, followed credible intelligence on the activities of suspected cultists and other criminal elements in Achi Town.
According to a statement, troops deployed at Oji River, working alongside Keystone personnel from the local government area, stormed a house suspected of harbouring criminal suspects at about 4:30am.
“During the operation, troops recovered eight motorcycles and two buckets of locally made gun powder suspected to be used for criminal activities,” the army said.
“Additionally, troops apprehended three suspects, namely Mr Ozor Benjamin (85 years) from Isikwe Achi, Mrs Miracle Eze (26 years), and Mrs Ogechukwu Okorie (29 years), both from Umuoka Achi in Oji River LGA, Enugu State.” 
Military authorities said that the suspects and recovered items have been handed over to Keystone personnel in Oji River for further investigation and necessary action.
The army stated that the operation underscored the commitment of Operation Eastern Sanity II and other security agencies to sustaining pressure on criminal elements operating in the South-East region.
“The successful operation highlights the commitment of Operation Eastern Sanity II troops and other security agencies to sustaining offensive operations against criminal elements threatening peace and security in the South East region,” the statement read.
The army added that troops remained determined to deny criminal elements freedom of operation while urging residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies.
