BREAKING: Kefas Clinches APC Governorship Primary in Taraba

According to a report by The Nation on Saturday 23rd May 2026, Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in the state after recording a sweeping victory in the party’s primary election.

The primary, held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, produced a decisive outcome as announced in Jalingo by the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee led by Barr. Yakubu Haruna Argungu.

Kefas polled an impressive 166,357 votes, far ahead of his rivals; Former Minister of Works, Engr. Muazu Sambo Jaji, scored 4,110 votes, while Chief David Sabo Kente managed 900 votes.

Declaring the result, the committee confirmed Kefas as the winner and duly returned candidate of the APC, having secured the highest number of valid votes.

In his acceptance remarks, Kefas dedicated the victory to party members across Taraba State, describing the contest as a demonstration of internal democracy within the APC.

He also called on all aspirants and supporters to unite ahead of the general election, stressing that the party’s priority should now be focused on strengthening its structure and delivering development to the state.
