Obi: Umahi Said They Don’t Respect Him In S/East Because Of Tinubu’s Projects, He’s Correct – Dare

Sunday Dare, the senior special adviser on media and public communications to President Tinubu has taken to his official X handle to share more insights into the comments made by the minister of works and former governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi.

According to the statements which were shared on his official X account on Saturday June 13th, 2026 he pointed out that true to the former governor’s remarks, Peter Obi was not respected in the southeast due to the numerous projects completed by president Tinubu in the region.

His comments came after the current administration completed a whooping N440 billion worth of projects across the region, which included the trans-saharan super highway, Onueke flyover amongst several other projects.

David Umahi, the minister for works, it can be recalled, had stirred a controversial debate after he publicly declared that the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi was not respected among his people.

His remarks, which garnered widespread traction across various social media platforms, drew massive reactions as many rose to the defence of the 2023 LP presidential candidate.

However, Sunday Dare, in a recent statement, made it known that the damage had already been done, maintaining that president Tinubu’s projects in the region effectively ended the people’s support for Mr Peter Obi.
