If You See Wike At That Time,Wike’s Powers Were Whittled Down Until That S’Court Judgement Came-Enyi

The Rivers State ADC Publicity Secretary-elect, Chizy Enyi, has stated that the political crisis in Rivers State worsened after President Bola Tinubu allegedly backed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking during an interview on Silverbird Television, Enyi claimed that Wike would not have had such a strong political influence in Rivers State if he were not serving as FCT Minister under President Bola Tinubu.

He said Fubara may not have expected Tinubu to support Wike during the political disagreement between both camps. Enyi also suggested that there could have been political agreements between Wike and Fubara that the public does not know about.

According to him, the governor’s main interest is to govern the state peacefully, while the ongoing crisis has slowed political progress in Rivers State.

Enyi further argued that Wike’s political strength had reduced at a point during the crisis, especially after the seats of some lawmakers loyal to Wike were declared vacant by former Speaker Edison Ehie. He explained that the matter later went to court, and that Wike’s influence only returned after the Supreme Court judgement on the issue.

The political tension between Wike and Fubara has continued to shape discussions about power and leadership in Rivers State.

In his words, “If you see Wike at that time, before the influence of Tinubu who all of us knew how it came. And the court judgement that almost enslaved us. Wike’s power was whittled down until that Supreme Court judgement came.”
