The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has sworn in 1,677 corps members deployed to Bauchi State for the 2026 Batch C, Stream II service year.
The corps members, comprising 752 males and 925 females, took the oath of allegiance on Friday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Wailo, Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Umoren Kufre, disclosed this during the swearing-in ceremony, saying the corps members were drawn from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
He said the orientation exercise commenced on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, and was designed to prepare the corps members physically, mentally and psychologically for the challenges of the one-year national service.
According to him, activities lined up for the exercise include paramilitary drills, citizenship and leadership training, physical exercises, lectures, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development.
Kufre expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the corps members since their arrival at the camp, noting that they had demonstrated humility, patriotism, loyalty and commitment to the ideals of the scheme.
He urged them to maintain discipline and abide by camp rules and regulations, advising them to channel any grievances through the appropriate authorities rather than resorting to self-help.
The coordinator assured the corps members that the camp management would continue to provide basic amenities, adding that their safety and welfare remained a priority.
He commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his continued support for the NYSC scheme, particularly in the areas of corps members’ welfare and security.
In his remarks, Governor Mohammed said his administration had completed the renovation of corps members’ hostels and constructed a new multipurpose hall at the orientation camp.
The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Bashir Yau, congratulated the corps members on completing their academic programmes and welcomed them to Bauchi State.
He described the NYSC as an important platform for promoting national unity and integration, urging the corps members to embrace the opportunity to serve the country with dedication.
Mohammed said the future of Nigeria depended largely on the commitment and contributions of its young people, urging the corps members to justify the confidence reposed in them by contributing meaningfully to national development.
The Chief Judge of Bauchi State, Justice Rabi Umar, represented by Justice Abdulsalam Waziri, administered the oath of allegiance to the corps members.
