President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has advised youths to equip themselves with permanent voter cards, PVC, in order to defeat tyranny and those who don’t know the value of a growing economy at the 2027 elections.
Tinubu, who was in Akwa Ibom State on a working visit that included a grand reception rally, stated this at a political gathering in Uyo on Friday.
The President who recalled his commitment to the defense of democracy and freedom in Nigeria during the military era expressed optimism to garner massive votes from the youths as he continues the development of the country.
“Have you seen the progress and development? I will depend on you to vote the APC, your weapon is your PVC. I assure you of better future, good education, skill development and jobs. There’s no reason Akwa Ibom should not enjoy the benefits of its palm trees as I will give you every needed support.
“Don’t vote for candidate who saw erosion menace in his state and ran away. I confronted Atlantic Ocean in Lagos as governor. Governor Umo Eno has also tamed erosion menace in Akwa Ibom,” he said.
The President said Nigeria required a leader who could stand and address challenges, not people who abandon their homes and parties for others facing similar challenges.
Tinubu described his visit as a homecoming saying, “I worked here as a Mobil auditor. We built Ibeno, developed Eket and I never knew I would be the President of Nigeria one day. We did what we needed to do.”
He commended Governor Eno for his achievements so far in office, noting, “Governor Eno is a great man of conscience, commitment and visionary,” saying, “when your request for the upgrade of the airport got to my desk, I didn’t hesitate because of your track record of performance.”
He said the deep-sea port will bring associated economic benefits and development to the state and country.
The President had earlier ceremonially cut the tape to signal the commencement of the inauguration of the new Ibom International Airport terminal.
