“ADC Should Stop Blaming People For Their Failure, Be Rest Assured They Will Not Win–Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), advising them to stop blaming others for their political setbacks and to concentrate on fixing their internal challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to a report by Channels Television on Thursday, April 16, 2026, Wike made the remarks while speaking to journalists during an inspection tour of ongoing road construction projects in Kuje, Abuja. The visit was part of routine monitoring of infrastructure development across the FCT, where several public works and road rehabilitation projects are currently underway.

During the engagement, Wike dismissed Atiku’s political aspirations, suggesting that the former vice president should reconsider any plans to contest the 2027 presidential election. He implied that the timing and political realities were not favorable, stressing that governance under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should remain the focus for now.

Wike also responded to recent criticisms from Atiku regarding the performance of the current administration. He argued that such comparisons should be based on visible infrastructure delivery and measurable improvements in governance, pointing to ongoing road construction and urban renewal projects in the FCT as evidence of progress.

On allegations raised by the ADC concerning alleged denial of access to event facilities in Abuja, Wike denied any political interference. He explained that the use of public venues follows established administrative procedures and insisted that approvals are not influenced by political considerations. He further stated that an internal review had been ordered to investigate any official misconduct, directing his Chief of Staff to look into the matter.

The minister also faulted the ADC for internal disorganization, advising the party to resolve its leadership and structural issues instead of attributing its challenges to external forces.

In a strong statement, Wike declared: “ADC should stop blaming people for their failure. Be rest assured they will not win.”
