“Tinubu’s Roots Are in My State” — Ademola Adeleke Explains Warm Ties With President

As reported by Daily Post on Monday, May 25, 2026, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has stated that his choice to back President Bola Tinubu’s pursuit of a second term in 2027 is driven by ethical obligation and the necessity to maintain ongoing development.

The governor clarified that his support is not solely rooted in political strategies, but rather in what he believes is fitting considering the relationship between Osun State and the President, along with existing projects that benefit the area.

This viewpoint from the governor was shared in a statement released on Monday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

In the statement, it was mentioned that Adeleke made his comments following an inspection on Sunday of the works being done on the Ibadan–Ile Ife–Ilesa Expressway.

During his tour, the governor notably praised President Tinubu for his support of significant infrastructure initiatives throughout Osun State and the wider South-West region.

Governor Adeleke emphasized that the growth of infrastructure is crucial for economic development and enhancing connections among communities.

He recognized the value of the current road projects, highlighting that such developments are projected to aid in smoother transportation, boost business activities, and facilitate better overall development in the area.

The governor also pointed out the vital role of leadership encouragement in advancing projects that directly affect local residents.

He stressed that credit should be given where there are efforts to improve public infrastructure, particularly initiatives that enhance travel between states and fortify economic relations in the impacted regions.

As noted in the statement, Adeleke’s comments were made while evaluating the expressway project’s progress, which has garnered attention due to its critical role in connecting major urban centers in the South-West.

The governor also took the chance to express gratitude for the federal government’s involvement in initiatives affecting Osun State.

His statements further reflected his views on political and regional relationships, especially in light of Osun State’s longstanding ties to President Tinubu.

Adeleke indicated that these factors, along with visible developmental actions, influenced his decision to openly endorse the President’s upcoming re-election campaign in 2027.

He remarked, “I am the governor from the ancestral home of Mr. President. How can I hold a position and hesitate to support him?”
