The Ogun State Police Command has deployed its School Protection Squad and strengthened collaboration with the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Safe School Initiative as part of efforts to enhance the safety and security of children and students across the state.
The initiative, implemented under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, is in line with the child- and school-protection agenda of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
The move underscores the Command’s commitment to creating a safer learning environment for students, teachers and school communities while strengthening preventive security measures against threats that could disrupt education and endanger children.
Ogun Police Intensify Measures Against School-Related Threats
The School Protection Squad and the strengthened partnership with the PCRC Safe School Initiative are designed to support efforts to safeguard students and school communities nationwide from security challenges, including kidnapping, cultism, bullying and other forms of anti-social behaviour.
Through closer collaboration with relevant stakeholders, the initiative seeks to promote security awareness, encourage early intervention and support measures that protect children within and around school environments.
The Ogun State Police Command also highlighted the importance of effective emergency response plans in schools. Such measures are essential to ensuring that school authorities and relevant stakeholders are prepared to respond promptly to emergencies and potential security threats.
Police Urge Parents, Teachers and Public to Remain Vigilant
The Command called on parents, guardians, teachers and members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the police and other relevant security authorities without delay.
It emphasized that safeguarding children requires collective responsibility and active cooperation among law enforcement agencies, school administrators, families and local communities.
The police encouraged members of the public to embrace the principle:
“See something. Say something. Report early. Protect a child. Save a future.”
The message reinforces the importance of timely reporting and community participation in preventing threats to the safety of children and students.
Strengthening School Safety Through Collaboration
The deployment of the School Protection Squad, alongside the strengthened PCRC Safe School Initiative, reflects the importance of coordinated security efforts in promoting safer schools.
The Ogun State Police Command urged all stakeholders to support school-protection measures and remain proactive in identifying and reporting potential threats, helping to build a secure environment where children can learn, develop and pursue their future aspirations.
