The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has launched its Student Share Grant Initiative, a financial inclusion and investor education programme designed to promote saving, responsible investing and long-term asset ownership among young Nigerians.
The initiative will provide eligible students with an opportunity to receive funding for an additional 10 shares in the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE (DPRP) at no additional cost, provided they meet the programme’s eligibility and participation requirements.
Under the scheme, students aged 18 and above who are enrolled in public or private tertiary institutions across Nigeria can apply. Eligible participants must successfully complete the required student verification process and submit an application, in their own names and for their own benefit, for a minimum of 10 DPRP shares through the foundation’s designated participation platform.
Following successful verification and completion of the application process, the Aliko Dangote Foundation will fund an application for an additional 10 DPRP shares in the eligible student’s name.
However, the foundation clarified that funding the additional share application does not guarantee that the shares will be allotted. Both the student’s original application and the ADF-funded application will remain subject to the applicable IPO terms, allotment procedures and final outcome of the offer.
Aliko Dangote Explains Purpose of Student Share Grant Initiative
Speaking on the launch of the initiative, Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, said empowering young Nigerians should go beyond providing access to education to equipping them with the knowledge and opportunities needed to participate in economic value creation.
According to Dangote, the initiative is designed to introduce students to the principles of saving, responsible investing and long-term ownership from an early age.
He explained that the foundation wants Nigerian students to understand how economic value is created and how they can participate in the formal economy through informed financial decisions.
Dangote further stated that developing an investment mindset early in life could help young people become more financially informed and confident in managing their financial futures.
He emphasised that the programme is intended to encourage a lasting culture of investment and asset ownership among Nigerian youths rather than simply facilitate participation in a single share offering.
ADF CEO Highlights Financial Literacy and Practical Investment Experience
The Chief Executive Officer of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, Mrs. Zouera Youssoufou, said the Student Share Grant Initiative combines financial education with practical experience in the formal investment process.
Youssoufou explained that financial literacy becomes more meaningful when individuals have opportunities to apply what they have learned.
She noted that the initiative will enable eligible students to experience key stages of investing, including student verification, share application, allotment and ownership, while encouraging responsible participation in the capital market.
According to her, the foundation’s objective extends beyond the DPRP IPO, as it hopes to inspire students to develop a lifelong interest in financial literacy, responsible investment and asset ownership.

Important Conditions Students Should Know
The Aliko Dangote Foundation clarified that the Student Share Grant Initiative is a foundation programme that operates separately from the offer and administration of the DPRP IPO.
Although the foundation will fund the additional 10-share application for eligible students at no cost to them, the funding does not constitute a guarantee of share allotment.
All applications will be processed in accordance with the relevant IPO documentation, regulatory requirements, offer terms and transaction procedures.
The foundation also stressed that participation in the initiative is voluntary and intended to promote financial literacy and broaden access to investment opportunities. It should not be interpreted as investment advice or a recommendation to purchase DPRP shares.
Prospective participants are encouraged to carefully review the IPO documentation, FAQs, Terms and Conditions, and Privacy Notice before proceeding with their applications.

The Student Share Grant Initiative forms part of the Aliko Dangote Foundation’s broader commitment to empowering young Nigerians through financial literacy, inclusion and economic participation.
By introducing eligible students to the formal investment process, the foundation aims to help young people understand the importance of saving, responsible investing and long-term asset ownership.
The programme also seeks to encourage greater participation in the formal financial system and equip students with practical knowledge that may support informed financial decisions throughout their lives.
