Nollywood has been thrown into mourning following the death of Nigerian actor Chijioke Nwokafor, popularly known as CJay Nwoks.
CJay Nwoks reportedly died on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at an undisclosed hospital in the Badore area of Lagos State.
The actor’s death was announced by actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday, who had recently cast him as the lead actor in her new movie.
Nkechi Blessing, visibly emotional in a video shared on her Instagram page, revealed that the movie would no longer be released as planned following CJay’s death.
She said:
“It took me a lot to do this video because we won’t be dropping the movie again by 5pm.
“Right now, I’m in the hospital in Badore. I just lost CJay. CJay is dead. I don’t even know where to start.”
The actress’s announcement has sparked an outpouring of grief among fans and members of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
