APC Expels Former Rep Muraina After Defection To PDP

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 09, Oke-Iserin, Igboora, Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State, has expelled former House of Representatives member, Hon. Dr. Saubana Ajibola Muraina, from the party.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the ward executive and announced in a statement signed by the Ward Chairman, Mr. Fasasi Mustapha, and Secretary, Mr. Afolabi Abiodun.

Why APC Expelled Saubana Muraina

According to the ward leadership, Muraina was expelled following his defection from the APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after failing to secure the APC ticket for the Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Muraina has since emerged as the PDP candidate for the constituency.

The APC Ward Executive alleged that despite his defection to the PDP, the former federal lawmaker continued to present himself as a member of the APC.

The ward leadership described the alleged action as an attempt to create confusion and division within the party in Ward 09 and Ibarapa Central LGA.

APC Cites Anti-Party Activities

The Ward Executive said Muraina’s alleged activities amounted to gross anti-party conduct and violated Article 21(A)(ii), (v), and (x) of the APC Constitution, as amended.

The statement declared that Muraina had consequently ceased to be recognised as a member of the APC at the ward, local government, state and national levels.

The ward said:

“Consequently, Hon. Dr. Saubana Ajibola Muraina is hereby expelled from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ward 09, Oke-Iserin, Igboora. He ceases to be a member of our party at Ward, Local Government, State and National levels and should no longer be related with or paraded as a member or leader of the APC.”

Expulsion Letter Sent For Ratification

The APC Ward 09 leadership further disclosed that the expulsion letter had been forwarded through the LGA Party Chairman to the Oyo State APC Chairman.

According to the statement, the document will subsequently be transmitted to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja for necessary action.

The development comes as political activities and preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
