Kuje Political Leaders Endorse Tinubu, APC Ahead of 2027 Elections

Nyesom Wike meets Kuje political leaders as stakeholders pledge support for APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike engages political leaders and community stakeholders in Kuje, where leaders pledged support for the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Political leaders in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have pledged to deliver “top-to-bottom” votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, citing infrastructure development and improved political cooperation under FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

The pledge was made during an interactive engagement involving political leaders, traditional rulers, women and youths in Kuje, where Wike defended the Rainbow Coalition as a model for promoting political stability and cooperation across party lines.

The minister urged political leaders in other states to embrace the approach, which he said had encouraged members of the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to work together despite their political differences.

According to Wike, political competition should not result in violence, hostility or the destruction of property.

“If Nigerian politics can come to this level, we will not be hearing about fighting; we will not be seeing ourselves killing each other,” Wike said.

Kuje Leaders Promise Support for Tinubu and APC in 2027

Several political stakeholders in Kuje expressed support for President Bola Tinubu and the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Senator Jibrin Usman Wowo said political leaders in the area council had consulted different segments of the community and agreed to support the ruling party.

“Honourable Minister, I want to assure you that we in Kuje Area Council have sat down and agreed that Kuje people are going to vote APC from top to bottom,” Wowo said.

The declaration signals the political leaders’ stated intention to mobilise support for the APC across electoral contests in the area council.

However, the pledge represents the position expressed by the political stakeholders and does not establish how residents will ultimately vote in the 2027 elections.

Kuje Chairman Urges Residents to Honour Electoral Commitment

Kuje Area Council Chairman Samuel Shekwolo also called on residents to honour their political commitments during the elections scheduled for January 16, 2027, as stated in the report.

Shekwolo urged voters to support President Tinubu, former FCT Senator Philip Aduda and Dablandi Chiya.

His appeal followed the endorsement of the APC by political stakeholders who attributed their decision to consultations within the community and the prevailing political cooperation in the FCT.

The declarations underscore efforts by political leaders to consolidate support ahead of the next general elections.

Wike Defends Rainbow Coalition Model

Wike used the engagement to defend the Rainbow Coalition, which he described as an approach that brings politicians from different parties together to pursue shared objectives.

According to the minister, cooperation between APC and PDP members has helped reduce political divisions and promote peace and stability in the FCT and Rivers State.

He argued that political differences should not prevent elected officials and party leaders from working together for the benefit of the people.

The minister also encouraged leaders in other states to consider adopting a similar approach to political engagement.

The Rainbow Coalition, as described by Wike, prioritises cooperation over confrontation and seeks to create an environment in which political competition does not undermine peace or community development.

Infrastructure and Political Cooperation Feature in APC Endorsement

The Kuje political leaders cited infrastructure projects and improved political cooperation under Wike’s leadership as factors informing their support for the APC.

Their endorsement comes as political parties and stakeholders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.

While the pledge indicates the intentions of the leaders who made the declarations, the eventual electoral outcome will depend on voters and the broader political dynamics leading up to the polls.

Wike’s appeal for political cooperation also highlights the continuing debate over how alliances across party lines can influence governance, political stability and electoral mobilisation in Nigeria.

As the 2027 elections approach, developments in Kuje and other parts of the FCT could become significant to the political calculations of the major parties.
